Former Creative Director For Oscar De’ La Renta Peter Coppin Awakens At Lanvin

Lanvin has recently named Peter Copping as the new artistic director overseeing both the womenswear and menswear collections along with leather goods and accessories. Renowned for his elegant and feminine designs, Copping is set to bring his distinctive vision to the iconic French fashion house starting in September.

Following the departure of Bruno Sialelli in April 2023, Lanvin had been on the lookout for a successor to lead the creative direction. The brand’s most recent runway presentation took place in March 2023, showcasing the Autumn/Winter 2023 collection. Peter Copping’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Lanvin as it looks to redefine its aesthetic under his experienced leadership.

Copping’s Previous Collections With Oscar De La Renta

Lanvin embarks on a significant journey with the appointment of Peter Copping, marking a pivotal moment in the revival of this esteemed French maison,” stated Siddhartha Shukla, Lanvin’s deputy CEO, in a statement released on Thursday. “With Peter’s visionary approach and technical expertise, coupled with the unwavering dedication of our global teams, we are poised to explore new horizons in fashion, striving to create a harmonious balance between beauty and achievement.”

After completing his studies at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, Peter Copping embarked on a distinguished career in the fashion industry. He commenced his professional journey at Sonia Rykiel before spending more than a decade at Louis Vuitton alongside Marc Jacobs, serving as the head of womenswear. Following this, Copping held the position of creative director at Nina Ricci from 2009 to 2014 and subsequently assumed the role of creative director at Oscar de la Renta, succeeding the legendary designer from 2014 to 2016.

Transitioning to Balenciaga, Copping took on the role of head of couture, overseeing the ateliers for the reintroduction of couture in 2021. His final contribution to the house was evident in the Balenciaga autumn 2024 couture show, which was presented on June 26th. This show marked the culmination of his tenure at Balenciaga, showcasing his talent and expertise in the world of high fashion.
